Jon P. Mark, 50, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at the Conesus Lake Nursing Facility, after a courageous 2 1/2 year battle with cancer.

Jon P. Mark, 50, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 3, 2011 at the Conesus Lake Nursing Facility, after a courageous 2 1/2 year battle with cancer.


Jon was born Nov. 22, 1960, in Wayland, a son of Robert and Leona (Engel) Mark. He was a 1978 graduate of Wayland Central School. He was a driver/yard manager for Dansville Logging. He also tended bar at several local taverns. In addition to his grandparents, Jon was also predeceased by his father, Robert, in 1978, his brother, Michael, in 1964 and a brother-in-law, James Teed, in 1991.


Jon was a member of the Wayland American Legion SAL. He enjoyed rooting for the Minnesota Vikings, talking to friends and telling many stories, but most of all he loved helping anyone that was in need and spending time with his family and friends.


Jon is survived by his sons, Rich Greene (Jessica Wagner) of Conesus and Sgt. Michael Mark of North Carolina; his mother, Leona Mark of Perkinsville; sisters and brothers, Mary Tilley of Canandaigua, Linda (Mert) Phillips and Barb (Fran) Schubmehl all of Wayland, Bob (Dena) Mark of Cohocton, Paul (Debbie) Mark of Dansville and Amy (Todd) Conrad of Perkinsville; sister-in-law, Christine Mark of Dansville; brother-in-law, Tom Tilley of Holcomb; mother of his children, Sindee (Cosaboom) Mark of Long Island; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, many close dear friends and special cousins, Patty and Herm Kreiley of Dansville.


Friends may call 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 300 W. Naples St., Wayland, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Perkinsville.
