Dansville Women’s Civic Club conducted its final meeting of the year on May 15 at the Loyal Order of the Moose. The evening also marked the end of many years of dedicated service for the organization’s long-time officers. Sue Schuster served as president of the Civic Club for nine years while Sharon Vogt was vice-president for two years. Nancy Wolfanger was secretary for 25 years and Donna Clark was treasurer for nine years.  In honor and appreciation for the officers, they were serenaded by the Maple City Chorus.

Candy Frazer was recognized for donating homemade jewelry and crafts every month, which were raffled off at each meeting with proceeds given to the club.

Nancy Wolfanger reported that after a six-year commitment to the club’s banner project, the spring and summer banners — depicting Dansville’s heritage and annual traditions — are now on display in the downtown business district.

Teresa Dearing, executive director of the Dansville Public Library provided an update on the library’s building project.

Social worker Jayne Acomb and naturopathic doctor Laura Sleggs were the featured speakers for the evening and gave a health and wellness presentation focusing on holistic medicine and a cognitive behavioral approach to weight-loss.

The newly elected officers for the Civic Club have officially assumed their respective offices: President Janice Stafford, Vice President LuAnn Perkins, Secretary Pam Soscia and Treasurer Karen Schleyer.

Dansville Women’s Civic Club meets the second Wednesday of every month from September through May and always welcomes new members.  Anyone interested in attending may contact any of the new officers.
