Budget update

During its May 24 meeting, the Board of Education discussed the next step in establishing a budget for District’s 2011–12 school year. The board was left with three choices: place the original budget proposal up for a revote; modify the proposed budget and conduct a second referendum or; adopt a contingency budget. The board informally agreed to adopt a contingency budget at their June 14 meeting. All programs are maintained under a contingency budget. However, there are limitations on the purchase of equipment and supplies. Additionally, NYS requires that community organizations pay a fee for use of school facilities under a contingency budget.
