The Saugerties Historical is pleased to announce that the Dutch Barn restoration project has begun at the Kiersted house, home to the Society.
We have had alot of help from the community; Lee Krom from Cornerstone masonry put in the foundation, most of it rebuilt from the original site.We did get additional help with foundation stones by generous donations from Saugerties Lumber Co and Barbara Budik.Howard Post is the project manager who has donated his time along with  ,Alex Wade, William Reinhart & Harry Block. We would not have been able to do anything with the assistance of John Mullen.Thank you to you all!
At this time the Society is asking that the public be aware that construction is being done at the site and to please not attempt to park in the back or to block the main entrance to Kiersted house. Also, while we love the enthusiasm from the public please do not walk close to the site. The 250 timbers are extremely heavy, weighing several hundred pounds.
The Historic Society is currently looking for volunteers to help put the siding on the barn once all the timbers are in place.
