Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring, the ballet piece that was thought to be inspired by folk performances of eastern mountain America was in fact was a syntheses of influences – England, Scotland, Shaker hymns, even Africa.   This ever-popular piece will be performed at The Doctorow Center For The Arts’ Weisberg Hall on Main Street, Hunter, at 8pm on Saturday, July 7th.

In addition, traditional music of our Eastern United States will be performed by noted folk artists, in this exciting meeting of rustic and classical music.

Performing live are the Capitol and National favorites Jay and Molly, banjoist, wordsmith and singer Michael Merenda, Dale Paul Woodiel, fiddle, Ira Bernstein, solo percussive dancer, performing with the Perspectives Ensemble who the NY Times called ‘first-rate performances by accomplished musicians’…. ’stunning’….polished, full of electricity’.

Once again, The Catskill Mountain Foundation provides top level entertainment for our community and beyond
