- About 90 percent of women who are diagnosed with breast cancer are in their 50s, so when a 30-year-old is diagnosed, it can be a lonely experience. Lisa Osterman told USA Today, "For me it's a very isolating experience. When older women are diagnosed with breast cancer, they have a girlfriend, cousin or sister who has had that experience. … But when a young woman is diagnosed with breast cancer they only know older women."


- A breast cancer survivor who wears prosthetics said she was humiliated at JFK Airport in New York after TSA agents patted her down in full view of other passengers. The woman said she offered medical documentation about her prosthetics, but the agents didn’t take them and patted her down.
