You may hear the rat-a-tat-tat of the drums and infantries in Victory Park on Friday when the seventh grade takes part in the annual battle between the blue and the gray as the Civil War comes back to life. Students will be marching, learning, dancing and enjoying the culture and history associated with this historic time period.
Don’t miss the ENCORE celebration on Wednesday, May 26. The event includes the Middle School art show, computer project display, health project display, music posters, home and careers project displays and medieval castle displays in the middle school gymnasium from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
There will be a mini-performance of the fifth and sixth grade chorus from 11 to 11:30 a.m. From 1:55 to 2:30 p.m. the sixth grade band and chorus soloists will perform. The night’s activities will be rounded off with the seventh and eighth grade band and chorus concert at 7 p.m.
Also this week: The Board of Education will meet on Monday, May 24 at 7 p.m. in the LGI. The senior class will take part in its annual luncheon.
Some sixth graders will be heading out on the annual Whale Watch trip to Boston, Mass. in hopes of spotting something big swimming in the water. Those students will leave on Friday, May 28 and return on Sunday, May 30.
The week of May 24, students in fourth and eighth grade will be taking the New York State Science Performance exams. Please check with your student or their teachers to confirm specific dates.
Please don’t forget the information meeting about FIRST High School Robotics Program on Thursday, May 27 in the LGI at 7 pm. Interested parents, community members, business owners, individuals with technical experience are encouraged to come and hear about this exciting new program being considered for WCCS. Community support will play an integral part in this program, connecting kids to individuals with practical skills to assist. If you love technology, or want your children, grandchildren or neighbors learning in a hands-on application process of technology, come and learn about this exciting program.
