Achievers: GCC names Spring President’s, Dean's Lists

BATAVIA — Genesee Community College, including all seven campus locations in Batavia, Albion, Arcade, Dansville, Lima, Medina and Warsaw, proudly announces 253 students were named to the President's List for the Spring 2020 semester. Students honored on the President's List have maintained full-time enrollment and earned a quality point index of 3.75 (roughly equivalent to an A) or better.

Genesee Community College serves over 5,000 students with more than 65 academic programs and certificates. Among the many options are the Marketing and Social Media concentration within the Business Administration program, Computer Repair, and the newest Micro-Credential offerings in Human Resource Management, NYS Coaching and Professional Sales. GCC also offers a variety of Fine Arts, Theatre Arts and six different healthcare programs including the new Health Studies, A.S.

Each GCC student is assigned a success coach at the College's Student Success Center. The coach provides academic and career guidance from the first steps of the admissions process through to graduation or transferring credits to other institutions. The College's robust athletic program is housed in the state-of-the-art Richard C. Call Arena featuring a fieldhouse, fitness center, Human Performance Lab, press box, as well as coaches' offices and classrooms.

GCC operates seven campus locations throughout Western New York, a significant online program and student housing is available at College Village, just a three-minute walk from the Batavia Campus. BATAVIA — 262 students from Genesee Community College named to Dean's List. Students honored on the Dean's List have maintained full or part-time enrollment and earned a quality point index of 3.50 to 3.74.

Gilmer, Wood earn Alfred State scholarships

ALFRED — Two local residents have each been awarded scholarships to attend Alfred State in the fall.

Cheyanne Gilmer of Dansville was awarded a $3,500 “Evelyn C. and Rumsey C. Billings Memorial Endowed Scholarship”. Gilmer was slated to graduate in 2020 from Dansville High School and has been accepted into the mechanical engineering technology (BS) program.

The “Evelyn C. and Rumsey C. Billings Memorial Endowed Scholarship” is awarded to an academically talented incoming student from Steuben and Otsego counties.

Faith Wood of Nunda has been awarded $1,000 for the “M.A. and C.A. Graham Nursing Memorial Endowed Scholarship” to attend Alfred State College.

Wood was slated to graduate in 2020 from Keshequa Central School and was accepted into the nursing (AAS/BSN) program.

The “M.A. and C.A. Graham Nursing Memorial Endowed Scholarship” is awarded to incoming nursing students; preference given to students from LeRoy Central or Warsaw Central School districts, then to students from Wyoming County, then to students from the rest of New York State.

McKenzie Derby named to Albright College Dean's List

READING, Pa. — McKenzie Derby of Dansville has been named to the spring 2020 Dean's List at Albright College. Derby earned this honor regardless of all classes transitioning online after Spring Break due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A graduate of Dansville High School, Derby studied Public Health and Sociology: Anthropology during the spring semester.

To be eligible for the Dean's List, Albright students must earn a GPA of 3.75 or better while taking a minimum of three letter-graded courses during a semester.

Gross named to Delaware Dean's List

NEWARK, DE — Natalie Gross of Wayland has been named to the University of Delaware Dean's List for the Spring 2020 semester.

To meet eligibility requirements for the Dean's List, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.5 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the semester.

St.Martin earns spring 2020 Dean's List honors

NEW PALTZ — SUNY New Paltz is proud to congratulate Halie St.Martin of Wayland for being named to the Dean's List for the spring 2020 semester.

Dean's List designation is reserved for students who excel academically and earn at least a 3.3 grade-point average in a semester with a full-time course load.
