Empire Realty Group's new "Let's Make Dansville Home Together" sign was made possible through a grant program to enhance Livingston County's downtown districts.

DANSVILLE — A hometown realty group got a brand-new sign over the holiday season.

Empire Realty Group has a hometown-vibe sign that reminds everyone the true meaning of community.

The sign reads “Let’s Make Dansville Home Together” below the company name. Support for the sign came from the Livingston County IDA's Sign and Façade Improvement Program.

“In the spring we applied for and we were honored to be awarded a grant from the Livingston County IDA Sign and Facade Program. It is geared towards improving our downtowns,” said Robbin Smith, Empire Realty Group Real Estate Broker Associate. “Dieter Excavating removed the old sign (Dec. 1) and Jeff Swift put the new one up (Dec. 3). Swift Custom Metal and Kyle’s Metal Shop collaborated on the project.”

Smith added the company still has some lighting to do with the sign.

“It is a great sign, and we are so excited to have it. It is very exciting to see the transformation of Dansville. Their (Swift and Kyle) participation in this community is unstoppable, “she said. “We have much interaction with other communities that are just astounded on how our community comes together. Through the good and the bad this community is truly amazing.”

Empire Realty Group has the place ready for the holidays with decorations lighting up the parking lot.

It gives the holiday feel of a small-town to see the work done on the historic downtown. Empire Realty Group is located at 2 Milton Street in Dansville.

The Sign and Façade Improvement Program is a grant program available to assist owners of commercial properties or business owners to make sign and façade improvements and enhance the attractiveness of the designated commercial districts in Livingston County Villages (Avon, Caledonia, Dansville, Geneseo, Lima, Livonia, Mt. Morris and Nunda).

Sign and façade improvements must follow the adopted Village Design Guidelines to ensure compatibility with the existing Main Street, helping to create a uniform and coordinated streetscape that is attractive and functional.

Eligible activities include new sign, repair or replacement of existing sign, installation of new awning, repair or replacement of existing awning, exterior painting, installation or replacement of exterior storefront, interior storefront display lighting, cleaning and re-pointing of brick on façade, repair or replacement of façade windows, or other activities upon approval.
