Valley Propane & Fuels of Dansville has contributed to the Livingston County Veterans Monument and veteran suicide prevention efforts.

DANSVILLE — Each year, Valley Propane & Fuels, a propane and fuel distribution company located in Dansville, dedicates a portion of the profits from its “Warrior Truck” – a unique, patriotic-themed fuel delivery truck – to local veterans’ organizations.

Livingston County Veteran Services (LCVS) would like to recognize the Valley Propane & Fuels team, including General Manager Bill LaVallee, for its generous donations toward county efforts over the past two years. Last year, the company – along with many private businesses – contributed to the Livingston County Veterans Monument, a community-wide endeavor led by several county departments, the Genesee Valley Educations Partnership, and local veterans themselves.

This year, Valley Propane & Fuels provided a direct contribution to LCVS that will help to sustain veteran suicide prevention efforts, focusing mainly on the promotion of wellness and self-care activities. These types of activities include horseback riding, canoeing and kayaking, fishing, arts and crafts, coffee hours, sports tournaments and picnics with veterans and their families.

Jason Skinner, LCVS Director, stated, “Wellness and self-care activities are more critical than ever as our community continues to face emotional, mental and behavioral health challenges amid the COVID-19 crisis.”

“Mr LaVallee and his employees at Valley Fuel are an integral part of our community, and we are very grateful for their dedicated service to the veteran population,” said Livingston County Board of Supervisors Chairman David L. LeFeber. “At one time, Livingston County had one of the highest suicide rates in New York State. This donation will help to advance our efforts in combatting veteran suicide throughout the county.”

Assemblywoman Marjorie Byrnes stated, “Valley Propane and Fuels is to be commended for its commitment to our veterans. The company’s contribution to LCVS will help many veterans who are struggling and in need of services. I am so thankful this company is a part of our community.”
