ROCHESTER — Wayland-Cohocton Indoor Track & Field had a successful meet over the weekend, with the boys squad bringing home the LCAA championship.


The boys squad tied LeRoy for the county title at Nazareth College. Individual county champions for the Golden Eagles included Jaden Rocha (55 hurdles and pole vault) and Dani Nielsen (1000 meter run). The relay team of Joe Hint, Chuck Drew, Trevor Sly and Jaden Rocha brought home a win in the 4x2 relay.


It came down to the weight throw event where Caleb Hanggi and Max Markle’s performances claimed the Eagles’ share of the county title, a first for the boys indoor track team!


The team’s head coach is Darren Knapp along with Julie Martin and Elizabeth Kreppel.


The girls team also had several individual champions including Karissa Bosh in the pole vault, Chaselyn Whitmer in the triple jump and the girls 4x2 relay made up of Karissa Bosh, Chaselyn Whitmer, Rachel Joseph and Julia Zastawrny.


Bosh was named the meet field MVP for taking first place in the pole vault and third place in the high jump.


The girls squad is led by head coach Julie Martin and assisted by Elizabeth Kreppel and Darren Knapp.


The Wayland Cohocton Theater group will present the female version of The Odd Couple by Neil Simon on Thursday and Friday, March 5 and 6 at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, March 7 at 2 p.m.


A special dinner event on Friday will feature a chicken parmesan dinner with pasta, salad, breadsticks, green beans, beverages and cookies for dessert. Tickets are for the Friday night Dinner and Show are $15 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens. Tickets for the dinner/show combination must be purchased by Feb. 28. Tickets for the show only on any three nights can be purchased in advance or at the door for $6 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.
