Golden Eagles and Vikings will play on NBA floor

WAYLAND — Any youngster, (and adult for that matter) would love be part of an NBA bill!

What a dream to be in the arena with some of the world's best players, hands down! The Wayland-Cohocton Golden Eagles and the Prattsburgh Vikings boys basketball teams will be "in that boat" in December, and there are still tickets available for that Christmastime trip! Wow ... what a gift that could be!

On Friday, Dec. 20 the Prattsburgh and Wayland-Cohocton boys will play at Cleveland's Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse ... home of the National Basketball Association's Cavaliers. Just think ... a chance to play on the same floor that LeBron James spent so many years playing and practicing on ... let alone many other NBA legends. The high school game will be the warm-up to the NBA game that will follow featuring the Cleveland Cavs and the Memphis Grizzlies. The boys will tip-off at 3 p.m. which will open the card for the pros that night.

Prattsburgh representative and former coaching legend Jim Burke noted, "We've gotten over $4,000 in donations not counting our fundraisers. Each school is committed to 150 tickets which includes players and coaches. We'll be taking our junior varsity players as well. Tickets can be ordered at the school and are $45 to cover both the high school and pro games. Tickets must be paid for when they are ordered. We'll be sending the money to Cleveland and then they'll in turn send the tickets back to us."

New varsity basketball coach Jake Kenney is the contact at Wayland-Cohocton Central School and commented, "This is a great opportunity for the boys and we're very pleased to be part of it. We still have some extra tickets at this point. People can contact me if they're interested at jkenney@wccsk12.org"

Merry Christmas hoop fans!
