DANSVILLE — The Dansville-Keshequa wrestling team had plenty to be proud of this season.
The season culminated on Saturday (Feb. 9) at the Super Sectionals State Qualifier at Brockport. The D-K crew was represented by a trio of athletes who performed well in the city over the weekend, and throughout their careers as well. Dansville-Keshequa sent a pair of seniors and a sophomore to the qualifier.
A sophomore from Keshequa, Trey Learn competed as a 10th grader in the 113 pound classification and finished 4th at Supers. Trey finished the season with a mark of 33-11, was second in the Livingston County championships and second in the Class BBB sectional competition.
Co-team Captain Karam Ali, a senior from Dansville, came in second in the super sectionals in the 195 pound class. Coach Jack Cook reported a number of memorable accomplishments for Karam, including a season record of 40-6, 1st at Byron Bergen tournament, 1st at State Farm in Hornell, 1st at Gary Gross Memorial Tournament in Medina, 1st at LCAA tournament, 1st at BBB Sectionals, a three-year career record of 90-33 and plans to attend college in the fall.
Finally, Keshequa senior Team Co-Captain Levi Howe, wrestling at 160 pounds, finished second at Supers. Levi had a season of 39-8 with 30 wins by pin, which is a Keshequa school record! Howe's season included milestones such as: 1st at the State Farm Classic in Hornell, 2nd at LCAAs, 1st at sectionals 2018-19, 1st at sectionals 2017-18, and a career record of 138 wins. Howe is enlisting in the Marine Corps in September.
"Both Karam and Levi will be sincerely missed next season for there skills and leadership," said Coach Cook.
