DANSVILLE — Whatever philosophy coach Kristen Moose and her Dansville Lady hoopsters subscribed to one year ago, nearly paid off with a Sectional Championship.
The Mustangs battled Bath to overtime at Honeoye Falls-Lima before falling in an epic classic of a contest at "the Cougar Cage" in a game that easily could have gone either way. The good news is that a majority of this team has returned for another run.
Dansville wound up with a "ho-hum" 12-11 record, but finished the season with a flourish and "on fire" too. A lot of familiar faces return for the 2018-19 campaign to keep that momentum rolling.
Key returners for coach Moose include seniors Jackie Blechinger (F/C), Skyler Race (F) and Madison Akers (F), along with junior guard Grace Rittenhouse and sophomore guard Hannah LaPlant.
New varsity faces will feature contributions from Jenna George (jr. G), Arayana Young (so. F/C), and guards Madison Lee and Sidney Stone.
Coach Moose commented, "This season we hope to improve as a team every time we step on the court and have our performance peak by the end of the season."
Moose coached her way to Spectator Great 8 Coach of the Year honors last season, and the Lady Mustangs piled up a number of All-Star selections as well.
In addition to the individual accolades, Dansville would love to take another step or two deeper into the postseason this year. The Lady Mustangs open their season the week after Thanksgiving.
