Groveland —  Stanley Kennedy Caldwell, age 91, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 10, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.


Stanley was born December 19, 1924 in Groveland, a son of David Mark & Grace (Kennedy) Caldwell. He married Elizabeth Dorothy Smith on June 1, 1946; she survives. He and Betty owned and operated Spring Brook Dairy Farm in Groveland for many years. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a son, David; and two brothers, Richard and James “Baby Jim”.


Stanley was the former secretary of the Union Cemetery Association in Scottsburg for many years, a member of the Sparta First Presbyterian Church for over 85 years and a past member of the NYS Dairymen’s League.


He enjoyed farming, traveling, reading, especially the National Geographic, but most of all he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.


Stanley is survived by his wife of 70- and-a-half-years, Betty; two daughters, sons-in-law & daughter-in-law, Cynthia & Dennis Muck, Diane & David Baehre and Kim Caldwell; seven grandchildren, Erica (Dan) Berrios, Jeanette (Matt) Wittmeyer, Brian Muck, Corey (Greg) Reed, Jodie (Paul) McMenamin, Rebecca Caldwell & T. Grace Caldwell; eight great grandchildren; 1 brother, Donald (Terri) Caldwell; nieces, nephews & cousins.


Friends may call 10 am to noon, Thursday at the Sparta First Presbyterian Church, 4687 Groveland-Scottsburg Rd., Groveland, NY 14462, where funeral services will be held at noon. Burial will be immediately following in Union Cemetery, Scottsburg.
