Cohocton — Mary C. Deusenbery, age 90, was called home to be with the Lord Sunday, October 16, 2016 at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Lakeville.

 

Mary was born February 13, 1926 in Cohocton, a daughter of Owen & Dorothy (Peck) Cragg. She was a graduate of NCA high school and receieved her associate degree at Rochester Business School. She married Thomas M. Deusenbery Jr. on November 20, 1942; he predeceased her on June 26, 2007. In 1945, they established the Deusenbery Dairy Farm on Route 21 North in Wayland. Mary was a homemaker, mother of eight children and she also was the Town of Cohocton Assessor for many years. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was also predeceased by a daughter, Judy Deusenbery, a son, Jerry Deusenbery and a brothers, Pete Cragg & David Cragg and sister, Lois Fuller.

 

Mary was a member of the Atlanta Presbyterian Church, the Cohocton Historical Society, the Cohocton Grange and local politics.

 

Mary is survived by her children, Carol Robinson, Rita (Gene) Schafer, Geraldine Deusenbery (Bill Hoffman), Anthony (Holly) Deusenbery, Jacqueline (David) Thompson & Cindy (Gerald) Wilkinson; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Deusenbery; 23 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Allan (Janet) Cragg & Brian Cragg; 2 sisters-in-law, Margo Deusenbery & Nancy Cragg; many nieces, nephews & cousins.

 

Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 300 West Naples St., Wayland. Funeral services will be held 11 am, Saturday at the Atlanta Presbyterian Church, 2 West Main St., Atlanta, NY 14808 with a luncheon afterward at Reservoir Golf Course, Naples, NY.
