Wayland, Anthony “Tony” T. Zmiyarch, age 91, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Taylor Health Care in Bath.


Tony was born November 9, 1924 in West Camp, NY, a son of Michael & Rose (Sawooly) Zmiyarch.


He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving during WWII from 1942 to 1945. He was a driver for the Teamsters Union #445, retiring in 1980. He married Joyce B. Johnston on July 25, 1986, she survives. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by 2 brothers, Peter & Paul Zmiyarch and a sister, Eva Legg.


Tony was a member of the Landowners and Sportsman’s Assoc., the Washington Hook & Ladder and North-South Battle Reenactment.


Tony enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles in his younger years, especially his Indian motorcycle. He loved to golf and had a hole-in-one at the Keshequa Golf course which he played at regularly.


Tony is survived by his wife, Joyce; his son, Joseph Zmiyarch Sr.;  two grandchildren, Joseph Zmiyarch Jr. & Elissa Zmiyarch; many nieces, nephews & cousins.


Per Tony’s request, there will be no services. Arrangements were entrusted to the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 300 West Naples St., Wayland.
