Griese, active in Dansville community, serving with National Guard
DANSVILLE — Master Sergeant Shannon Griese from the U.S. Airforce National Guard, 174th Attachment, has been deployed to the New York City medical examiner’s office with a joint team of Army and Air Force personnel.
Griese, a Livingston County coroner and Dansville police sergeant, has been deployed since April 1.
When asked about his duties, Griese couldn’t respond with specifics, but said, “we’re dealing with all kinds of situations here,” adding that he is experiencing things that most people would never have to deal with. Though, he said that having been a Livingston County coroner for the past two and a half years has made his duties easier to handle.
Griese has been working within all five boroughs of New York City, and has been steadily working 12-hour days for five days a week. He said that he is grateful for his family’s and community’s support. As of this printing, Griese does not yet have a return date.
In addition to his duties as a Master Sergeant and county coroner, Griese is also a sergeant with the Dansville Police Department; a driver for Dansville Ambulance Company; a volunteer firefighter with the Dansville Fire Department; serves as chair for the N. Dansville Republican committee; is on the Livingston County Republican advisory board and chairs the Stony Brook Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited.
Griese is a lifelong resident of Dansville.
