2 Geneseo natives, Caledonia native test positive

MOUNT MORRIS — The Livingston County Department of Health (LCDOH) on Saturday reported three additional positive cases of COVID-19 in Livingston County, which brings the total number of positive cases to 10.

According to Jennifer Rodriguez, Livingston County Public Health Director, all three individuals were tested separately at their respective medical providers’ offices and are currently at their private residences under mandatory quarantine.

In accordance with state and federal medical privacy laws, additional information about these individuals will not be provided. LCDOH was notified of these positive cases this morning.

Rodriguez stated that LCDOH will immediately begin outreach to identify close contacts and potential exposure areas per prescribed New York State regulations.

LCDOH is issuing another cautionary warning about community spread. Community spread is defined when individuals are infected by each other with the virus, including some who are not sure how or where they became infected. Residents should by now assume the virus is in and around the community, so steps like washing hands regularly and vigorously and practicing social distancing are strongly encouraged.

“As news comes in on the continued advancement of the virus across much of Upstate New York, such reporting reinforces the need for our community to heed state health directives, Governor Executive Orders and local guidance from our own Health Department. We recognize that we all have to adapt to this new normal,” states Ian M. Coyle, County Administrator. “We all play a role in stopping the spread of COVID-19. Please do your part. Staying home saves lives.”
