ALBANY — Surrounded by his family and members of the Senate Republican Conference, Senator George Borrello took the oath of office Wednesday as the representative of the 57th State Senate District.

The ceremony took place in the Senate Chamber just prior to the official start of the 2020 Legislative Session. Borrello, a Republican, defeated Democrat Austin Morgan in November to fill Cathy Young’s seat in the Senate. Young resigned in March 2018.

The 57th District covers southern Livingston County and all of Allegany, Cattaraugus and Chautauqa counties.

"I remain deeply grateful and humbled at the opportunity I’ve been given to represent the good people of the 57th District," Borrello said. "As the 2020 Legislative Session begins, my constituents can be assured that I will be the strong advocate they need and deserve in state government. I am excited about beginning this crucial work and tackling both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead."
