LETCHWORTH — The Friends of Letchworth State Park will be holding a special ceremony at the Park’s CCC Workers Statue at Lower Falls at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28. The event will remember and honor the men of the Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930s and their many accomplishments in Letchworth State Park.

The ceremony is part of the three day gathering of members of CCC Legacy, a national organization based in Virginia. Each year the group gathers at a significant CCC sites around the country, bringing CCC enthusiasts from across the country together to explore, promote and preserve the legacy of President Roosevelt’s most successful New Deal Program.

Letchworth State Park was selected for this year’s gathering because its extensive CCC history and the ongoing efforts of Letchworth Park, the Friends and New York State have made to preserve the Park’s CCC history and legacy.

The event will include speakers, a wreath laying ceremony, a memorial tree planting and more. Three CCC Alumni are scheduled to take part in the ceremony, including one who served in one of the Park’s four CCC camps. The ceremony is open to the public and is handicapped accessible.
