SPARTA — Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty Monday reported a personal injury motor vehicle crash over the weekend in Sparta.

On Saturday, at approximately 11:05 p.m., the Livingston County Emergency Communications Center (E-911) received a report of a motor vehicle crash on Stagecoach Road near Swartz Road in the Town of Sparta. It was reported that a person was trapped in the vehicle and was unresponsive.

Deputy Sheriffs, along with the Sparta Fire Department, Dansville Fire Department, Dansville Ambulance, and Livingston County EMS responded to the scene.

The investigation revealed that the vehicle was being operated by 29-year-old Adam Landon from Dansville, who was traveling south on Stagecoach Road when he left the roadway on the northbound side of the road. The vehicle entered the ditch and struck a tree before coming to rest.

The driver of the vehicle was able to get out of the vehicle but the passenger, 29-year-old Nickie Landon from Dansville, had to be extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel.

Adam Landon was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and has since been released. Nickie Landon was flown via Lifenet Air Medical Services to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of significant injuries. Nickie Landon remains in the hospital in guarded condition.

Investigating the crash for the Sheriff’s Office were several members of the Patrol Division and the Forensic Identification Unit for crash reconstruction. The crash remains under investigation, however driver impairment has been ruled out.
