Semi vs. sedan accident results in serious injuries

DANSVILLE — Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports Sheriff’s Deputies, EMS, and Fire, were dispatched to Hornell Road at exit 4 ramp on Interstate 390 for a motor vehicle crash with serious injuries.

On Tuesday, approximately 5:54 p.m. the Livingston County Emergency Communications Center received a call for a two vehicle crash involving a sedan and semi truck. Deputies arrived on scene and found that a passenger vehicle being operated by Sadie C. Wagner, 24, of Wayland, was exiting Interstate 390 and pulled into the path of a tractor trailer being operatedJames M. Dehlam, 52, of Liverpool.

Members of the Dansville Fire Department, Dansville Ambulance, and Livingston County EMS were on scene and extracted Wagner, as well as a passenger in her vehicle, Crastin Brockway, 36, of Dansville.

Wagner was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital via LifeNet Air Medical Support. Brockway was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Both Wagner and Brockway sustained serious injuries from the crash.

The driver of the tractor trailer and two passengers, Stephen Filapello, 45, of Bridgeport and Gerald Phillips Jr., 63, of Cortland were not injured in the crash.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office Command Staff, Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Forensic Identification Unit, Commercial Vehicle Unit, and Aerial Drone Unit were on scene for the investigation and were assisted by Dispatchers of Livingston County Sheriff's Office Communications Bureau.

Assistance with traffic control was provided by the Dansville Police Department and the New York State Police.

The investigation into the crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office with the potential of criminal charges pending.
