VILLAGE OF DANSVILLE: Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Geneseo man on felony charges after an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.

On May 6, 2019 Sheriff’s Investigator Dan Rittenhouse arrested and charged Cody R. Harcleroad,22 with felony Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, felony first-degree Criminal Sexual Act, Forcible Touching, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

It is alleged that in December of 2018 at a residence in the Village of Dansville, Harcleroad had sexual contact with a child less than 11 years old.

Harcleroad was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney’s Office was contacted in regards to bail due to the felony level charges. It was recommended that Harcleroad be held without the chance of bail due to the Predatory Sexual Assault against a Child charge being a class A2 felony and therefore a local Justice not being able to set bail on the charge.

Harcleroad was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC- CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of North Dansville Justice David Werth. The Judge did remand Harcleroad to the custody of the Sheriff being held without the chance of bail.

The investigation was conducted in coordination with Child Protective Services from the Livingston County Department of Social Services.
