SPRINGWATER — Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty Tuesday reported the arrest of two Monroe County women on drug related charges after a traffic stop in Springwater.
On May 3, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Deputy Shawn Whitford stopped a vehicle in North Main Street in Springwater for a violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 25-year-old Nishala S. Flowers, of Rochester, and a passenger in the vehicle as 32-year-old Avirn Parnell, also of Rochester. During the course of the traffic stop, the Deputy Sheriff smelled the odor of marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle and initiated a roadside drug investigation.
The investigation allegedly revealed that Flowers was in possession of marijuana and Parnell was in possession of concentrated cannabis.
Flowers was issued an appearance ticket for Unlawful Possession. Flowers will answer to the charges in the Town of Springwater Court at a later date.
Parnell was arrested and charged with seventh-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.
Parnell was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part at the Livingston County Jail before Town of North Dansville Justice David Werth. The Judge remanded Parnell to the custody of the Sheriff on $200 cash bail or $400 bond.
