ALFRED – The public is invited to a special event, “Pour Your Heart Out,” at the Alfred University School of Art and Design’s National Casting Center Foundry on Valentine’s Day, Thursday, Feb. 14, from noon until dusk.

In this free event, there will be demonstrations of molten iron being cast into molds, as sculpture/dimensional studies student develop their “Sculpture in the Public Domain” project. The public is invited to create their own heart-shaped tiles in cast iron ($15 cost).

Roberto Visani, a visiting artist from Brooklyn, will be on hand for the event.

Those attending are invited to participate in a Valentine’s Day potluck by bringing chocolate to share. The event will also serve to observe Heart Disease Awareness Month, which is being celebrated throughout February. “Pour Your Heart Out” is sponsored by the Division of Sculpture/Dimensional Studies at Alfred University.

National Casting Center Foundry is located at 180 N. Main St., Alfred.
