LEICESTER — A teen is behind bars after being charged with second-degree rape.
Christopher Thompson, 18, of Leicester was arrested after investigation into the case found he had sexual intercourse with a female less than 14 years old.
Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty said, "On Jan. 11 Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence on Kingston Road for a neighbor problem. Upon arrival the Deputies found that one neighbor went to another neighbor’s house to discuss an alleged inappropriate relationship between an 18 year old male and a female less than 14 years old.
Through investigation the 18 year old male alleged to be involved in the inappropriate relationship was identified as Thompson. It is further alleged that Thompson became aggressive with the neighbor who had confronted him and physically attacked him. Further investigation into the incident by Sheriff's Deputies alleges that Thompson had sexual intercourse with a female less than 14 years old."
Sheriff’s Investigator Brad Schneider arrested and charged Thompson with felony second-degree Rape. Thompson was also charged with second-degree Harassment for the initial altercation the Deputies were called to.
Thompson was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney’s Office was contacted in regards to bail due to the felony level charge and recommended that Thompson be held on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
Thompson was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC- CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Avon Justice Jeannie Michalski. The Judge did remand Thompson to the custody of the Sheriff on the recommended bail of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
