DANSVILLE — Santa Claus stopped by at the Dansville Public Library for a special day with the local children.

Children’s Events Coordinator, Mary Ellen Arena, said that a nice donation had been made this year by David Smith for the memory of his mother, Ruth Bornt-Smith. This came in the form of Christmas children's books. Arena said she purchased them from Scholastics with the money donated, and put a sticker in the cover in memory of Ruth Bornt-Smith.

“It was so sweet of him to donate for the children's books,” she said. “He let us pick out the books we wanted to get to hand out to the children. I got different age groups of Christmas books.”

Some of the books were holiday favorites and others were brand new titles. There are new Christmas books coming to the library for children this week.

Santa Claus read two books, Merry Christmas Little Elliott and Twas the Night Before Christmas.

“We planned to have Santa Claus come and read to the children, get photos with him, and do some arts and crafts too,” Arena said. “I love to see all the children. It is my goal to get more community involvement with the children.”
