DANSVILLE — This year’s Kidding Around Downtown had a children’s bike parade with the help of the Dansville Village Police Department.

Kaylee Lohrmann, K’s Canine Training Services owner, said in order to support the theme of the First Friday event she wanted to do a bike parade.

“There was a lot of interest generated on Facebook,” she said. “We have been planning the bike parade since July. There is a lot going on at other stores too. I love the downtown people. Dansville is my favorite business community.”

Lisa Scott, Canaseraga native, was at a booth in front of Strike Back Martial Arts to promote the Partyin For Parkinson’s event coming up.

Scott said there will be a basket raffle, live music, signed photos from several sports teams, pulled pork dinner, and a 50/50 raffle.

“This event grows every year, and we raise more and more money for the foundation,” she said. “All of this goes to Moving Day for the Parkinson’s Foundation. They do such great work there.”

This event is at the Canaseraga American Legion on Sept. 23 from noon until 6 p.m.

The bike parade was a huge success as the community gathered to cheer on the children going down Main Street, Elizabeth Street and Ossain Street. The winners this year included: Brantley Walker for Best Decoration, Hotchner Morrison for Best Theme, and Lilah for Most Colorful.

Dansville ArtWorks held crafts for children as well and a book signing for Kay Thomas’ new mystery Agreeable: A Best Food Day Mystery.
