GENESEO — A Sparta man was arrested Aug. 8 on felony charges after an investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
On Aug. 8, Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Interstate 390 to check on a vehicle driving erratically.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Adam E. Bortle, 34, of Sparta. He explained to the deputy that he had to swerve to avoid a deer while driving, which caused him to drive off the roadway. The driver did perform a set of standardized field sobriety tests and was found not be impaired.
However, a driver’s license check revealed that Bortle was driving on 17 license suspensions (16 scoffs on 12 different dates).
Bortle was arrested and charged with felony first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and unlicensed operation of a vehicle.
Bortle was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail. He was remanded to Livingston County Jail without the chance of bail.
