NORTH DANSVILLE — Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty Thursday reported the arrest of a Rochester man after the investigation of a domestic incident.
On Aug. 6, a female victim reported that she had been involved in a domestic incident to the Village of Dansville Police Department. It was later found that the incident being investigated took place in the Town of North Dansville and the investigation was turned over to the Sheriff's Office for investigation.
It is alleged that on Aug. 6, 31-year-old Alexander M. Gravesandy Sr. of Rochester was involved in an altercation with the female victim. It is also alleged that the altercation became physical and that Gravesandy choked the female around the neck. Gravesandy currently has an active court issued order of protection in place against him where the female victim is the protected party.
Members of the Sheriff's Office along with the Mount Morris Police Department located Gravesandy at a residence in the Village of Mount Morris.
Gravesandy was taken into custody after he attempted to flee out a window. He was arrested and charged with felony Criminal Contempt in the 1st degree, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, and Harassment in the 2nd degree.
Gravesandy was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney's Office was contacted in regards to bail due to the felony level charges. $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 bond was recommended. Gravesandy was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC- CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Geneseo Justice Kathleen Houston. The Judge remanded Gravesandy to the custody of the Sheriff on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
Handling the investigation for the Sheriff's Office were Sheriff’s Investigator Brad Schneider, Deputy Brent Gibbs, and Deputy Bob Holt.
