DANSVILLE — A Dansville woman was arrested on drug related charges after a traffic stop on Interstate 390.

On May 30, Deputy Shawn Whitford stopped a vehicle on Interstate 390 for a traffic violation.

The deputy identified the driver as Samantha M. Ciaramella, 25, of Dansville, and suspected that she was driving under the influence of drugs and began a roadside DWAI Drug investigation.

Ciaramella was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs. Ciaramella also allegedly possessed Methadone pills, a controlled substance and did not have a prescription. She was additionally charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Deputy Brandan Flickner, who is a Certified Drug Recognition Officer, conducted an evaluation on Ciaramella. It was determined that Ciaramella was under the influence of a narcotic analgesic and could not operate a vehicle safely.

A check of the patrol vehicle later revealed that Ciaramella had tried to discard eight bags of heroin in the back seat, yielding charges of felony tampering with physical evidence and another count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Ciaramella was arraigned in the Town of Avon Court and remanded to Livingston County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
