Arleigh Leslie Hilton passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 in Raleigh, N.C.
Family and friends are invited to attend a “Celebration of Life” for Arleigh at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23 at Lakeview Cemetery, 426 Court St., Penn Yan.
He was born March 21, 1926 to Helen Radcliffe Milliman and Leslie E. Hilton of Geneva, and graduated valedictorian, class of 1943, Penn Yan Academy. He was honorably discharged from the National Guard of New York. He proudly served as the Sergeant of Company L, 108th Infantry. Leigh was an active member of the Episcopal Church since his youth. His continued fellowship within the Friends of Bill W for over 45 years will always be celebrated and well-respected. Arleigh was a longtime employee of the Eastman Kodak Company in community relations and marketing after starting his career as a reporter for the Penn Yan Chronicle-Express and a correspondent for the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle. He also served as the Director of the Finger Lakes Association. For 24 years he served in various executive capacities as in public relations at the Eastman Kodak Company.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene Louise Benedict Hilton (Raleigh, N.C.); children, Debra Hilton Engel (Norman, Okla.), David R. Hilton (Detroit, Mich.), Susan Hilton Ramsey (Raleigh, N.C.), and Christine Beisheim Walton (Spring, Texas); eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Arleigh was predeceased by his daughter, Laurie Beisheim Devries (Muskegon, Mich.); grandson, Daniel Engel (Norman, Okla.); and sister, Jan Shumway (Geneva). Surviving brothers and sisters include Ronald Hilton, Kenneth T. Milliman, Duane Hilton (Rochester), Doris Johnson (Lake Wales, Fla.), and Beverly Schwartz (Tujunga, Calif.).
