WAYLAND — Local law enforcement is combing the area for a missing teenage girl.

Kathleen Miller, 17, of Wayland went missing from her mother, Jamie (Amato) Rachow’s home on Route 21 at 9:30 a.m. Monday. Miller may also be going by her adopted name Valorie Angel Amato.

New York State Troopers from the Wayland barracks, Dansville Police Department, and Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is out in force looking for Miller.

“Miller is described as a white female, 17 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 130 pounds. She was last seen wearing a blue Buffalo Bills sweatshirt, unknown color leggings, black sneakers and she was carrying a white duffel bag with zebra stripes. On Feb. 19, at 10:30 a.m., she was seen on State Route 21 in the area of Walter Kurtz Road., town of Wayland. On Wednesday, in the afternoon, she was seen in the village of Dansville. Please contact 911 with any information,” Inv. Mark Villone said.

Debbie Judd, Miller’s sister, contacted Genesee Country Express about her sister’s disappearance. Judd said her sister was last seen asking directions to Church Street in the Dansville Salvation Army parking lot on Wednesday afternoon.

There has been a search party in Wayland since 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, and a search party in Dansville since Wednesday afternoon.

“We are all looking for her in Dansville now,” she said. “She was last seen around Chestnut Avenue. We are hopeful since they found the boy on Seward Street sleeping in a garage.”

Judd said her sister may be confusing Church Street with where Judd lives on Schmidt Road in Dansville.

“We looked in Loon Lake, Hornell, and even Lima for her since Monday,” Judd said. “We are glad someone saw her in Dansville today. We have looked at the hospital, Babcock Park, and Girl Scout Park. The whole family is out looking for her.”

“We are so worried about her,” Judd continued. “She has nothing on her. She doesn’t have a phone or any money. We don’t know how she has been eating or keeping warm. The past couple days the weather has been nice, but it is going to get down right nasty tonight.”

If anyone has any information about her whereabouts call 911 and Jamie Rachow at 585-474-6472.
