DANSVILLE — A Dansville woman has been arrested following a Livingston County Sheriff's Office investigation regarding welfare fraud.
It is alleged that Rebecca A. Garrison of Dansville had applied for and was receiving benefits from the Livingston County Department of Social Services, as well as benefits for her children that lived with her. At the conclusion of this investigation, it was determined that the children were not living with Garrison and therefore she was not entitled to the benefits.
Garrison's failure to disclose this information to DSS resulted in her receiving $1,235 in benefits that she was not entitled to receive.
On Dec. 7, Garrison was arrested by Sheriff's Investigator Dan Rittenhouse and charged with fourth-degree welfare fraud and fourth-degree grand larceny.
Garrison was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.
Garrison was later arraigned in the Town of Mount Morris Court before Justice Ossant, who remanded her to the custody of the Sheriff on $250 cash bail or $500 bond.
