BATH — Bath-based State Police today announced a Hammondsport man has been charged after he allegedly choked and injured another person during an incident Monday.

Troopers, in conjunction with the Steuben County Child and Family Protective Services unit, announce the arrest of Robert L. Scott, 45, stemming from an investigation into a reported domestic disturbance early Monday morning. Scott was charged Thursday with third-degree assault, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, fourth-degree criminal mischief and endangering the welfare of a child.

Troopers allege that while at a residence in Hammondsport, Scott intentionally choked, restrained, and hurt another person while preventing him or her from calling 911 for help. Troopers allege that the altercation occurred in the presence of a child under age 17.

Scott was arraigned in Bath Town Court and sent to the county jail in lieu of $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond. He is due to appear Sept. 18 in Urbana Town Court.
