DANSVILLE — After four years the Dansville Pizza King was ready to move down the street to a bigger location.

 

The pizza shop opened its doors on 201 Main Street on May 18. They were very busy for lunch time.

 

Dansville Pizza King owner Billy Giovanniello said someone signed the lease after he left to make their own pizza shop at the old location.

 

“I love the new location,” he said. “You work hard and put the time in to make a good product. It is great to have people reward you.”

 

The old location was closed down in preparation for the new store, so for a little over a month the loyal customers were asking Giovanniello to open his doors again.

 

“They were telling me they did not have pizza since I closed the old Pizza King,” he said. “It took a little longer than I thought. I got all the same equipment from the old location over here.”

 

Kyle’s Metal Shop in Dansville helped with a lot of the stainless steel.

 

Giovanniello wants to start making philly cheesesteak at Pizza King. All of the Pizza King favorites will be available.

 

“Everyone says we have the best pizza,” he said. “My father (William Giovanniello) started the pizza business in Brooklyn. He was born in Italy, and his family moved to Queens when he was a boy. He started a Pizza King in Hornell, and still operates Giovanni’s Pizzeria in Hornell.”

 

Giovanniello said he started the business in Dansville to make it bigger and better.

 

“I like being in Dansville,” he said. “We have festivals and events that draw people to downtown. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.”

 

Giovanniello said he is very grateful to customers for waiting for him to get the new shop up and running.

 

“We are like one big family here,” he said. “Most people will come and go, but there are some who stick around.”

 

 

Dansville Pizza King is located at 201 Main Street. They are open Monday to Thursday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday noon to 9 p.m. They do eat-in, delivery, and take-out. They can be reached at 335-8700.
