DANSVILLE — Like a good neighbor State Farm is there with many different insurance products.

State Farm has just opened its doors to Dansville. Its grand opening is on Oct. 21 from 3 to 5 p.m.

State Farm Agent Mike Adam said he is proud to be serving Livingston County.

“I have always loved sales,” he said. “When this opportunity came up I was really excited to come back.”

Adam spent five years working under Agent Dave Palma at the Hornell branch. It was his goal to be an agent someday.

“I specialized in life insurance,” Adam said about his first insurance job at Prudential.

However, State Farm is the one who made his dream come true.

It was a long process to be approved as an agent, and even longer to get the perfect office space in Dansville.

“I had to become an approved candidate, and write a business proposal to State Farm,” Adam explained. “I had to renew my license. I was able to post for the Dansville office.”

Right now Allah Clark and Linda Force are the only others working with Adam, but he plan to hire at least four more in the future.

“We are excited to be in the building we are in,” Adam said. “Lorri Welch has done a beautiful job restoring the building. She has helped us through the whole process.”

The best part of the process is that State Farm was able to use their historic signs for the Dansville branch since it is located in the historic downtown.

“I think honesty is very important,” Adam said about running the office. “Being good with people and meeting the needs of the community and individual. I believe in doing the right thing all of the time. I believe in educating the customer on all the different products. I want to help them whether they do business with me or not.”

“I am thrilled to be in this location,” Adam continued. “We absolutely love the building. Everyone has been very welcoming. The energy in the office is good.”

Adam would love for his oldest daughter, Jessica Ferguson to come work for him, and make it a family business.

“It has always been a dream of mine to be an agent,” Adam said. “It has been a dream since 1994 when I started at an insurance company. I want to build a large, strong, healthy agency that is able to educate and meet the needs of customers.”

Adam mentioned this is a warm and friendly community and he is glad to be here.
