DANSVILLE — Paul Robinson built a life-size foosball court in his backyard last year and generated some excitement in his community.
On July 17 there will be a Human Foosball fundraiser for the Vincent House. Deadline for registration is June 26, so anyone interested in forming a team for this worthy cause is encouraged to fill out the forms before than.
The Benefit for Vincent House will take part rain or shine at 11 a.m. for team check-in, 11:30 a.m. for captains meeting, and game starts at noon.
There is a $30 donation fee for a six person team and a $40 donation fee for a eight person team. There will be a 14 team maximum on the day of the event.
Anyone interested in watching the game is more than welcome, and can come free of charge. There will be basket raffles and a 50/50 Raffle in the barn. Perkinsville Fire Department is volunteering a cook-out for anyone at the game. There will be hot dogs, hamburgers, and soda available at a reasonable price.
Robinson has built a second life-size foosball court, and is planning on having double matches.
“Last year was raised a little over $100 for Vincent House,” he said. “I wanted to do better this year, so we are trying it again.”
Robinson said each team will get the chance to play two games, and everyone will play for 15 minutes at a time. This way everyone gets a chance to play.
“I have prizes for the top three teams,” Robinson added.
Everyone is welcome to bring their own lunch if they don’t want the hot dogs and hamburgers, Robinson said people are happy about the cook-out and don’t want to walk back to their cars for lunch.
Anyone not playing in the games can still participate in the basket raffles and make donations.
Robinson mentioned everyone watching can also bring a small tent incase it rains, or if it gets too hot.
“A lot of people know about the Vincent House and have had people stay there, so it makes everyone willing to come out and donate,” Robinson said. “We hope we have a good turn out for them.”
Everyone must be 15 and older to play, and wear sneakers. No flip-flops, sandals, boots, steel-toed shoes, or cleats are allowed on the court.
Forms must be filled out and donations must be paid by June 26. Anyone interested can email Robinson at email@example.com or visit their Facebook at Perkinsville Human Foosball. Anyone without access to a computer, or would like a hard copy of the form can go to 1771 County Route 90 (Perkinsville Road) Dansville and pick up a form and rules from the foosball box. They can fill it out there and put it in a red envelope, or mail it in. Checks must be made out to the Vincent House.
