AVON — A Monroe County woman was arrested on heroin trafficking charges Thursday, culminating a three-month investigation by the Livingston County Drug Task Force.

Authorities report Norma Mercado, 24, of Rochester, was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Both charges are class B felonies.

Mercado was arraigned in Avon Town Court and remanded to the Livingston County Jail on $30,000 cash bail or $60,000 property bond.

Authorities said the investigation continues and additional charges are pending.

The Livingston County Drug Task Force is comprised of members of the following agencies: the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, Avon Police Department, Caledonia Police Department, Drug Enforcement Administration, Geneseo Police Department, Mount Morris Police Department, New York State Park Police, Nunda Police Department, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Livingston County District Attorney’s Office.
