Lucinda J. “Cindy” (Kemp) Cooper, 68, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.

Lucinda J. “Cindy” (Kemp) Cooper, 68, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.

Cindy was born Sept. 17, 1942, in Dansville, a daughter of the late Joel Cromer and Evelyn (Forsythe) Kemp. Cindy was a graduate of Dansville Central School and attended Alfred Tech. She worked at Burroughs Corporation before becoming a mom. She was later employed as an account executive at Griffith Energy in Rochester. In addition to her father, Joel Cromer Kemp, Cindy was also predeceased by aunts and uncles, Robert and Dorothy Forsythe, Carl and Myrtle Forsythe, Richard and Isabel Kemp and Helen and L. Howard Hartman; cousins, Stephanie Kemp McGraw, Roger D. Kemp and Billy Forsythe.

Cindy was a member of the DCHS Class of 1960 Ladybugs and she enjoyed needle work of all kinds, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. Cindy was known for her sense of humor and love of life. She had a multitude of friends and loved passing on jokes and stories. She was a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister and cousin.

Survived by her husband, Gene Cooper; daughter, Joellen (Frank) McDougal of Henrietta; son, Gene Andrew (Angela) Cooper of Fayetteville, N.C.; granddaughter, Emily Catherine Cooper of Fayetteville, N.C.; mother, Evelyn Kemp of Dansville; sister, Pamela (Howard) Perry of West Sparta; nieces, Kimberly Drumm of Rochester and Kristina (Brian) Cornbau of Sparta; great-niece, Alexandria Drumm of Rochester; great-nephews, Eli and Travis Cornbau of Sparta; aunts and uncle, Helen Litteer of Henrietta and Lucille (Salvatore) Benedetto of Charlotte, N.C.; cousins, Shirley (Richard) Tracy, Dennis (Donna) Hartman, Joel (Mary Anne) Kemp and Margo Reilly, all of Dansville; Larry Hartman of Leland, N.C.; Delores (Tim) Pendergas of Louisburg, NC; Kathleen Kemp of Palm Bay Fla.; Leia (David) Andrus of Henrietta; Albert (Veronica) Litteer of Prescott, Ariz.; Carey (Ann) Litteer of Hinsdale; and Thomas (Danielle) Litteer of Williamson; special “sisters,” Rhonda Leonard of Leicester and Patty Dondorfer of Rochester.

Friends called 2–4 and 6–8 p.m. Saturday at the Chamberlin-Baird Funeral Home, 73 Main St., Dansville, where memorial service was at 2 p.m. Sunday. Burial in Oaklawn Cemetery, West Sparta.
