Q&A with Twin Pines Technology proprietor Fred Grambs
Can you tell us how you got into your line of work?
I grew up with computers and after graduating college with a BS in Meteorology and not being able to get a job as a weatherman, I wound up working for a paid EMS system in NYC for a few years. The low pay in EMS lead me to re-evaluate my life and I decided to get Microsoft certified.
What do you like most about your work, and what do you like least?
I enjoy seeing how different people use technology and trying to help them improve their use. What I least like is the ongoing battle with computer viruses. If we didn’t have to battle viruses, think of how many software developers could be refocused on developing new and better software.
What advice do you have for someone who wants to open a business?
Don’t sit on the sidelines and think about the business idea for years, stand up for yourself, do some solid market research to see if your business idea will work in this area and get started. Use resources that are available to you to get good information.
