A partial list of winter post-season honors recently appeared and saluted many area athletes following the 2010–11 sports campaign. The list included basketball, cheerleading and wrestling.


On the Exceptional Senior Boys All-Star list were locals Sean Mattle, Dakota James and Colt Duttwieler from Keshequa, along with Zach Nobles from Wayland-Cohocton. Coach Todd Isaman will be behind the south team bench for the annual Exceptional Senior game which will be played at York High School this Friday, March 25.


On the girls side of things Dansville’s Emilea Harrison, Keshequa’s Katelyn Gelser and Wayland-Cohocton’s Sarah Wolcott were also cited to play in the girls game which will preceed the boys contest on Friday.


Also selected locally to the Ronald McDonald’s All-Star Game at RIT for this Saturday, March 26, were Keshequa’s Morgan Howe and Wayland-Cohocton’s Tiana Cheasman. Way-Coh Coach John Crossett will also be coaching in that prestigious game.


Exceptional senior cheerleaders were Dansville’s Deb Gleason and Tempestt Wilbur, Wayland-Cohocton’s Amanda Mitchell and Casey Sick, and Keshequa’s Chelsea Beardsley.


Other basketball honors included the announcement of the Livingston County All-Stars for the boys locally in Division One were Evan Englert, junior, from Wayland-Cohocton and Dansville’s Mitch Lamerson, junior. In Division III Keshequa’s Sean Mattle, senior, and Dakota James, senior, were both recognized.


For the girls in Division One Emilea Harrison , senior, and Hailey Sick, junior, from Dansville were on the list along with Wayland-Cohocton’s Tiana Cheasman, senior, Sarah Wolcott, senior, and Diane Cork, junior. In Division III were Keshequa’s Morgan Howe, senior, Gabrielle DiAngelo, junior, and Alex Flint, sophomore.


LCAA Coach of the Year was Keshequa’s Pete Piraino. Piraino was also named Section V Coach of the Year for class C while Wayland-Cohocton’s John Crossett was selected for class 2B. The Keshequa girls also gained a No. 1 seed in the year’s tournament.


On the boys side, Wayland-Cohocton’s Bob Skoczylas was named Section V coach of the year in class B1. The locals on the LCAA All-Star cheerleading squad were Dansville’s Deb Gleason, Tempestt Wilbur, Kenedi Young and Clara Inzinna along with Wayland-Cohocton’s Marki Hough, Amanda Mitchell and  Casey Sick plus Keshequa’s Chelsea Beardsley and Megan Moran.


Wrestling awards included All-Stars for Livingston County from Division One championship, Wayland-Cohocton  Jordan Rizzieri, Jon Miller, Levi Wormuth and Tyler Hampsher. Dansville grapplers were Cody Schuster, Andy Graves and Jason Boots-Lovetro. For Keshequa Korey Gillen, Travis Baker, Jordan Shute and Zach Todd. Class 3B individual championship recognition to Wayland-Cohocton’s Levi Wormuth. In class 1B the lower weights Outstanding Wrestler Award went to Keshequa’s Korey Gillen. On the class 1B squad were Keshequa’s Travis Baker, Korey Gillen and Jordan Shute. Outstanding Wrestler in the State Qualifier was Jon Miller from Wayland-Cohocton. Miller also was an individual champion in the qualifier along with Keshequa’s Korey Gillen. Finally Wrestlers taking part in the N.Y. State meet in Albany were Keshequa’s Korey Gillen and Jordan Shute, along with Wayland-Cohocton’s Jon Miller.
