  • Sheriff John M. York proudly announces the graduation of seven deputy sheriff corrections from the Seneca County Basic Jail School.

    In addition to the deputies from Livingston County, there were deputies from Seneca County, Wayne County and Ontario County.

    The basic jail school is seven weeks of instruction on laws, procedures, rules and regulations, supervision, defensive tactics and firearms as they pertain to the confinement of individuals in County Jail facilities. The instruction was held in Romulus, NY and the graduation ceremony was held on May 16.

    Deputy Kerry Anne Wood of Dansville graduated number one academically and also was number one in the class in firearms. Deputy Heather Benjamin of Leicester graduated number two academically in the class, just .03 point behind Deputy Wood. Deputy Joshua Parmele of Leicester, Deputy Ronald Merrick of Groveland, Deputy Jamie Sargent of Groveland, Deputy Jonathan Canty-Marozzi of Caledonia and Deputy Jennifer Boyer of Piffard completed a v challenging course of instruction.

    All deputies will bring their new knowledge base to the Livingston County Jail and utilize this information in their everyday work. Sheriff York commends each of the deputies for their hard work and diligence and wishes them continued success.
