  • June Perkins, 95, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at the Vincent House in Wayland.
June was born June 24, 1916, in Rochester, the fifth child and second daughter of Jotham C. and Susan Gertrude (Palmer) Baker of Websters Crossing. She graduated from Livonia Central School. In her youth she resided in Rochester, Memphis, Livonia and Webster Crossing. Upon her marriage to Charles J. “Chuck” Perkins, they resided in Wayland before settling in Websters Crossing. Chuck and June were married nearly 71 years before his passing in 2007. They were a devoted couple, loving parents and grandparents. June worked out of the home over the years, but considered herself a homemaker and mother.
She was active in the leadership of the Websters Crossing Methodist Christian Women Society and Livingston County Home Bureau; she also spent many years as a 4-H leader and was a founding member of the Springwater–Websters Crossing Historical Society. She was dedicated and loyal to her family, friends and community.
In addition to her parents and husband, June was also predeceased by her son, Charles R. Perkins; a grandson, Eric Guffey; her brothers, Clark , Harmon and Theo Baker; and her sister, Helen (Baker) Crossett.
She is survived by her three daughters, Linda J. (Perkins) Guffey of Honeoye, Meredith J. (Perkins) Pikulski of California and Jo Ann Perkins of Springwater; her daughter-in-law, Florence Perkins of Springwater; her sister-in-law Esther Baker; her grandchildren; Tristian, Andrew and Lyn Guffey; Charles, Jotham and Christopher Perkins, Ryan Pikulski and Laura Sue Perkins; 14 great-grandchildren; with one expected in April; one great-great-grandson; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service was at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 10, at the Websters Crossing Methodist Church; with a luncheon reception to follow. The family requests no flowers; they would prefer that everyone remember June by donating to the Vincent House, P.O. Box 566, Wayland NY 14572; so that others may also benefit from their care. Those who wish to light a memory candle for June may do so at www.bairdfuneralhomes.com.
