Wellsville gained a small measure of revenge against the Wayland-Cohocton girls’ basketball with a 56-44 win on Dec. 7 in Wellsville.

The Lions gained early momentum and ended the first half ahead. A Way-Co run in the third shaved the gap to four points, but Wellsville bounced back in the fourth for the win.

“I felt our girls played well again, but Wellsville is a very good team with a lot of skill and experience,” Way-Co Coach John Crossett said. “They’re a tough team to beat and we made a couple of mistakes which cost us some buckets when we were trying to get back into the game. You can’t make mistakes like that against a good team like Wellsville.”
