William D. Hall, 92, of Newton, N.J., died Friday, June 22, 2012, at Barn Hill Care Center in Newton.

William D. Hall, 92, of Newton, N.J., died Friday, June 22, 2012, at Barn Hill Care Center in Newton.

Born in Dansville, Mr. Hall was a longtime resident of Newton. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1945 to 1946. Mr. Hall loved photography and began his career at Robinson Aerial Survey in 1937. In 1962, he purchased the business, where he continued to work until his retirement in 1983. Upon his retirement he worked as a clerk at Sears in Hampton for  five years. Mr. Hall was a director for Midlantic Bank for many years. A member and past president of the Rotary Club of Newton, he was a Paul Harris Fellow, and served as district governor of Rotary District 7470 from 1974 until 1975. He was also the recipient of the Boy Scouts' Silver Beaver Award in 1971. Mr. Hall was active in the Ridgewood (N.J.) Presbyterian Church, the Newton Presbyterian Church and the Unity Church of Sussex County.

The son of the late Daniel R. Hall and Myrtie (Fawcett) Hall , Mr. Hall was also predeceased by his stepmother, Louise Hall; his wife, Rose M. Hall, on Sept. 29, 2002; his granddaughter, Lori "Morgen" Espe, on Feb. 9, 2012; sisters, Dorothy (Hall) Sorrell, Phyllis Hall and the Rev. Bonnie (Hall) Seitz; brothers, Harold Hall and Dr. Daniel R. Hall Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Sharron Morgenweck; his son, David Hall; his sister, Dr. Ann Myers; three grandchildren, Greg Morgenweck, William D. Hall II and Wendy Celentano; five great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Ryan and Bridget Morgenweck and Amanda Celentano and Sara Hall and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were June 30 at the Unity Church of Sussex County.
