There are two three-year positions open for the Dansville Central School District Board of Education. If interested in running for one of the positions, please pick up a petition at the district office, 284 Main St., Dansville, Monday – Friday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. The petition is due by 3 p.m. on Monday, April 18. A candidate must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years of age, able to read and write and a legal resident of the district one year prior to the election. Candidates cannot be employees of the Dansville Central School District, and can be the only member of his or her family on the Dansville Central School District Board. In addition, candidates may not simultaneously hold another incompatible public office or have been removed from a school district office within one year preceding the date of the election to the board. The budget and board of education vote is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17.

New Graduation Date


Class of 2011 graduation ceremonies will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, in the high school gymnasium. This is change in time and day from previous years. Please be sure to mark your calendars.


Early Dismissals and No School


Students in kindergarten through eighth grade will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. (11:20 a.m. for middle school) on Thursday, March 24, and Friday March 25. Parent-teacher conferences will be these afternoons. There are no pre-kindergarten classes on these days. There is no school on Monday, March 28, for students. Teachers and staff will report for staff development opportunities.


Mustang All Stars and Exceptional Seniors


The Dansville Athletic Department is pleased to announce those winter athletes who have been recognized as LCCA All Stars and Exceptional Seniors. All Stars include: Mitchell Lamerson (boys’ basketball); Hailey Sick and Emilea Harrison (girls’ basketball); Cody Schuster, Andy Graves and Jason Boots-Lovetro (wrestling); Dave Coombes, Isiah Hale, Elija Hale, Nicchia McFadden, Jake Olson and David Spink (swimming); Deb Gleason, Tempestt Wilbur, Kenedi Young and Clara Inzinna (cheerleading). Exceptional Seniors are: Dave Coombes and Isiah Hale (swimming); Deb Gleason, Tempestt Wilbur, Emilea Harrison (basketball).


Other Upcoming Events




There is roller skating on Friday, March 25. Kindergarten, first and second grades will skate from 2:45 to 4:15 p.m. and third through fifthgrades will skate from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Skating is in the elementary gymnasium.

The Middle School PTO will meet on Monday, March 28, at 6 p.m. in the middle school conference room. The group will continue to plan the spring semi-formal and other special events. Your help is needed.

Thursday, March 31 the primary and elementary students will see a performance of Junie B. Jones given by Theater Works in the Dansville auditorium. This performance will bring to life a favorite story-book character.
