  • The village of Dansville is buzzing about a community project involving youth, art, and the American Red Cross.
Students from the Genesee Valley Educational Partnership in Mt. Morris’ metal trades class have teamed up with Dansville merchants and businesses to bring an incredibly unique and highly visible fundraiser to the village of Dansville.

“The auction is going to be a terrific event,” said Sandy Shaw, Executive Director for the Clara Barton Chapter of the American Red Cross. “People get a chance to acknowledge the students, bid on great artwork they can take home, and support a good cause that is near and dear to us in Dansville.”
The chapter house at 57 Elizabeth Street functions as a dual-purpose museum and a fully operating Red Cross chapter.
“When we started thinking about the charity we wanted to choose, the Red Cross was an obvious choice,” said Olie Olson, Metal Trades teacher at the Partnership. “The students are excited about the cause and the statues really reflect their excitement. I’m very proud of the work they’ve done this semester.”
