Jon Miller upset the 130 weight class to place first.

“Jon pinned his way through the finals,” Wayland-Cohocton Coach Tim Simons said. “He beat both the first and second seeded wrestlers, making for a major upset.”

That wouldn’t be the end of the recognition for Miller, who also was named Most Outstanding Wrestler in Division II. Garnishing that honor marked the first time a Wayland-Cohocton wrestler has ever received the award.

Levi Wormuth came in third in the 189 weight class. Wormuth lost in the quarterfinals to the top seed, but wrestled his was back for a third place finish.

Both wrestlers advanced to state.
